A Bit About Me

“Some people think that, with the passage of time since the European conquest of our nations, the wisdom of our sages disappeared. And in a sense, they are right: much of that wisdom left with its custodians. However, although time passes, wisdom remains. It changes in form and ritual, but it always rests on the same principle: the union of the man and woman of knowledge with nature, and their conscious incorporation into the cosmic rhythm and the worlds of the spirit.”

— Don Genaro Flores

This work is the testimony of the last disciple of Don Genaro Flores Campos, the legendary Mazatec nagual who inspired part of Carlos Castaneda’s work. After more than four decades of rigorous apprenticeship and in fulfillment of his master’s mandate, Sabino Amaya presents In Search of the Nahual, the first volume of his memoirs as a sorcerer’s apprentice and man of knowledge, inaugurating a new era in the revelation of ancestral wisdom that has remained hidden for more than 400 years.

“I seek neither recognition nor prominence. I am driven solely by fulfilling the mandate of Don Genaro, who told me: when Carlitos is no longer in this world and has shown his true stature, write the version from our perspective, we Mazatec people. Today I am trying to fulfill that commission.”

— Sabino Amaya

Who is Sabino Amaya?

Sabino Amaya is a seemingly nonexistent person, yet he exists, and so when he encounters us, he becomes magical, opening doors and paths to other dimensions and the encounter with the Nahual.

Sabino Amaya Autobiographical author of his experiences with the Nagual Group:

Don Genaro, Doña Narcisa, Don Vicente, and others.

In Search of the Nahual is the first volume of the trilogy. It was published in Spanish (limited edition) in late 2025, and its commercial distribution began during the first half of 2026. It is followed by The Gates of Dreams (2026) and The Old Opossum (2026). One of the author's central objectives, transmitted as direct instruction from his teacher, is to establish that the ancestral knowledge known as the Art of the Men and Women of Knowledge or Toltec wisdom—concepts popularized in contemporary culture under notions such as "nahualism," "shamanism," or "the warrior's path"—has its origin in ancient traditions of the peoples of Mexico, preserved by living lineages that extend beyond the pre-Hispanic period and the conventional historical record.
